Coffin Jackson (Webcomic of Personal Choice) (6 points)

For this week, I wanted to talk about a webcomic that I think deserves a bit more of an audience, and it's a webcomic called Coffin Jackson. Sadly, the official website which hosted the English version shut down, so here's a link to a third party site which has it.

The story is about a mortician who is working for the mob disposing of bodies, but he's unexpectedly fired by the mob. At the same time, he's blackmailed by a group of conman into helping them complete a job. He reluctantly joins them, and finds himself mixed up in a huge mess.

This comic was really influential for me because the art style is super refined. Each character looks distinctively different from each other, and the coloring is exceptional. I also really liked how all the characters are much older than usually depicted in webcomics like this, and act their age. The author is one of the only artists I've seen that has been able to draw older adults in a very aesthetically pleasing way.

The story itself would be really interesting to those who enjoy crime thrillers, and movies like the Godfather. The main character goes through an arc of learning how to understand people better, and to care for others. In the start, he believes that no one is special after they die; They're all the same. Through the influence of the other characters, he slowly learns to care for people. It's not traditionally virtuous in its values and such, but it's a super fun read and even shocked me at some points.
